Crab House

Nothing beats good food to bond friends and make good memories. It's also a wonderful opportunity for discovering great places to eat. I browsed my phone and found that I still had photos of our dinner the night before Songkran (Thai New Year) 2014. I originally want to blog about the restaurant but since other priorities got in the way, I forgot all about it. So for a short throwback blog, I'll write about the time we ate at Crab House in Patong, Phuket.

Our hotel was only a short walk away from this restaurant and since we did not want to risk being splashed with water, we chose this place. The menu had reasonable prices. As usual, while waiting for the food we had to have a photo of ourselves. Its amusing to note that we were still quite thin during this time.

When the food arrived, we were surprised because it's not enough for a party of 6. To solve the problem, we ordered additional dishes. The place's specialty is of course, crabs. Guests are able to choose how they are served. By the time the crab came, I was already busy eating. Thus, I had no photo :P.  Our orders were mostly Thai dishes because we just can't get enough of it.

Before the food disappears suddenly from these plates, of course we had to have a photo.

It was a satisfying meal for us and I'm happy to have enjoyed the rest of that year's Songkran celebration. Thank you for reading and 'til next blog!

Bird's Send Off Party

Another colleague is moving to another place to fulfill her dreams and pursue happiness. Her name is Thannapat, but all of us call her by her nickname: Bird. Last Friday, 29 July 2016, our Institute Director and staff threw her a send off party. Straight from the office, we went to Mai Morn Restaurant  and Karaoke in Phuket Town. As it was still early, we had lots of time to take photos.

Here is Bird, in the middle of her 2 close friends: Michelle and Jay.

The party started with people being called to the front to render a song or two. I obliged with 2 songs as well as some of my colleagues. Our Director, Dr Sanguan Kunaporn, was able to get hold of the microphone and serenade us.

Later on, these 2 girls showed us their hidden talents by making a showdown on the stage. The crowd became energized and there was even a small group dancing in the mini dance floor.

Suddenly a band was formed. I think this group of singers and performers will go a long way :)

As usual, I forgot to take photos of the food served that night. I was famished and every time a dish was served, I immediately tasted it. The Thai Food served were mostly spicy but I had my bottomless drink and so I was fearless.

As it was already late, I went home early but not after taking this photo with Bird. Good luck on your new journey ka. Literally spread your wings and fly. I'll always remember you as my first Thai friend when I came to your lovely country. You've always been dependable and true. I will miss how your just one Line question away. I hope you find your happiness. I'll see you soon!

Dining at Chickaboom

It's been a long time that me and my colleagues went out to eat together. Despite our busy work and personal lives, we found time last Friday, 13 May. It was our first time at Chicka Boom, a restaurant serving delicious chicken dishes in Phuket Town. After work, we headed out to the place.

The place's lighting was creative and the atmosphere was unique. As there were 8 of us, we settled on their long table. But for groups of 4, there is an option to sit in a Korean inspired setting.

To order, we need to check on their list on how we want our chicken served. I chose 3 pieces of boneless fried chicken to be in  butter sweet sauce, one serving of rice and coleslaw.

While waiting for our orders, we talked and took photos.

The waiter asked each of us to pay ahead for each of the orders. Afterwards, our meals were served. I got what I wanted! :)

It's nice to discover a new place to eat with friends in tow. Everyone was excited to taste their own orders. Thanks to Mel who suggested about the place. I'd love to come back soon and try chicken with another kind of sauce.
