On my Playlist - Now that I have you by The Company

Original Pinoy Music or OPM never fails to make me nostalgic. I don't know why but maybe because it is spoken or sang in our own language which makes me feel more atuned to it. While browsing on youtube, I found The Company singing one of their hits at Kis FM's van. The song entitled Now that I have you made me feel emotional, not because of the words but because of the beauty of the blending and the very soothing voice of the lead singer. Love the song to bits and that is why it is on my current playlist!

Here is the video.. Enjoy!

A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman

Last Sunday, my sister treated me for a movie and we chose to watch The Greatest Showman. I have heard great and not so great reviews about the movie but most of my friends raved about it so it got my curiosity.

The movie is a musical inspired from the life of P. T Barnum and how he made his dream of putting together a show featuring "freaks". Although the movie made adjustments to what really happened to Barnum's life to keep the audience entertained, I still loved how the casts gave life to their characters, how the songs were pleasing to the ear and the over all inspiration that the story is giving. There were a number of songs that I liked from the movie and one of them is the song from the first part of the movie, entitled A million dreams. While the song is being sang by the young P. T Barnum in the movie, it showcases the hardship that he had gone through and the many things that he hopes to achieve someday.

Here is the official Audio from Atlantic Records with the lyrics below. Enjoy! ;)

"A Million Dreams"
(from "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack)

[Ziv Zaifman:]
I close my eyes and I can see
The world that's waiting up for me
That I call my own
Through the dark, through the door
Through where no one's been before
But it feels like home

They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy
They can say, they can say I've lost my mind
I don't care, I don't care, so call me crazy
We can live in a world that we design

'Cause every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it's gonna take
A million dreams for the world we're gonna make

There's a house we can build
Every room inside is filled
With things from far away
The special things I compile
Each one there to make you smile
On a rainy day

They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy
They can say, they can say we've lost our minds
I don't care, I don't care if they call us crazy
Run away to a world that we design

[Hugh Jackman:]
Every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it's gonna take
A million dreams for the world we're gonna make

[Michelle Williams:]
However big, however small
Let me be part of it all
Share your dreams with me
You may be right, you may be wrong
But say that you'll bring me along
To the world you see
To the world I close my eyes to see
I close my eyes to see

[Michelle Williams & Hugh Jackman:]
Every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
A million dreams, a million dreams
I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it's gonna take
A million dreams for the world we're gonna make

For the world we're gonna make

Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask

I am not very sure why I play this song on repeat. It is a bit sad but maybe because of its rhythm and Niall's voice.

Here's the video with lyrics. Enjoy! :)

New Rules by Dua Lipa

I've been listening to a lot of songs by Dua Lipa recently. I find her voice smooth and and unique. She does have a lot of likable tunes such as Scared to be Lonely (with Martin Garrix), Be the One and Blow your mind.

Another song that I like from Dua Lipa is entitled New Rules. At first, I didn't like the title that much so I refused to listen to the song. However, when I heard a clip of the song, I got hooked! The song talks about how girls are supposed to act during a break up. Lesson: never run after a guy. If a guy wants to stay, he will come back or better, will never leave. This song fits women who are not able to get over their boyfriends yet. Realize your worth, ladies!

So here is the video and lyrics. Enjoy!

One, one, one, one, one...

Talkin' in my sleep at night, makin' myself crazy(Out of my mind, out of my mind)Wrote it down and read it out, hopin' it would save me(Too many times, too many times)My love, he makes me feel like nobody else, nobody elseBut my love, he doesn't love me, so I tell myself, I tell myself

One: Don't pick up the phoneYou know he's only callin' 'cause he's drunk and alone
Two: Don't let him inYou'll have to kick him out again
Three: Don't be his friendYou know you're gonna wake up in his bed in the morning
And if you're under him, you ain't gettin' over him

[Chorus]I got new rules, I count 'emI got new rules, I count 'emI gotta tell them to myselfI got new rules, I count 'emI gotta tell them to myself
(Nowhere to turn, no way)
(Nowhere to turn, no)
Now I'm standin' back from it, I finally see the pattern
(I never learn, I never learn)
But my love, he doesn't love me, so I tell myself, I tell myself
I do, I do, I do

One: Don't pick up the phone
You know he's only callin' 'cause he's drunk and alone
Two: Don't let him in
You'll have to kick him out again
Three: Don't be his friend
You know you're gonna wake up in his bed in the morning
And if you're under him, you ain't gettin' over him
[Chorus]
I got new rules, I count 'em
I got new rules, I count 'em
I gotta tell them to myself
I got new rules, I count 'em
I gotta tell them to myself
[Bridge]
Practice makes perfect
I'm still tryna learn it by heart (I got new rules, I count 'em)
Eat, sleep, and breathe it
Rehearse and repeat it, 'cause I... (I got new...)

Jax Jones - Don't Act Like You Know Me

This is quite an old song but I can't help but smile when I listen to it. It will always bring me back to that good time on the road in the wee hours of the morning after some binge watching. I know I can't have too much of a good thing but I'm just happy we had that moment :)

Enjoy :)

Ooh, na na yeah
Don't act like you know me, like you know me, na na yeah
I am not your homie, not your, hoo, na na yeah
Don't act like you know me, like you know me, na na yeah
You don't know me
Oh yeah, time is money so don't fuck with mine
See I'm out with my girls, I'ma have a good time
Step back with your chit-chat, killin' my vibe
See, I can't get too much of a good thing
S'why me a dressed up in the finest things
Well, please hold your tongue, oh, don't say a damn thing
See your iPhone camera flashin'
Please step back, it's my style you're crampin'
"You here for long?" Oh no, I'm just passin'
"Do you wanna drink?" No, thanks for askin'
Ooh, na na yeah
Don't act like you know me, like you know me, na na yeah
I am… Full lyrics on Google Play Music

No words by The Script

My friend used to tease me that every time I am heartbroken, I listen to the songs of the band called The Script. Not that I was heartbroken most of the time, but when some disappointments come in to my life.

Well, I find The Script's songs very relatable and seem to put into words what I feel. But aside from songs screaming pain and longingness, they have songs professing love as well.

One of the songs I love from this group is entitled No Words. I'd like to meet a man like this. I won't mind if he is very talkative. In fact, I will love that he would be willing to communicate and share his life stories - good or bad. Of course, he has to listen to what I will share as well.

Anyway, here's the video and the lyrics courtesy of azlyrics.com

"No Words"

I could talk all day long about the news,
Giving you the current affairs with my views
I could talk all night long about a song,
Giving you the pointers on where you're going wrong.
I could talk all year long about the net
Sending you the links I think you haven't seen yet.
I'd like to tell you things that I think you never heard, but there are no words

I could talk all day long about dreams,
Sewing up your heart so you never see a seam.
I could talk all day about politics,
All of the corruption, clean hands, dirty tricks
But what can I say
About something that blows me away
Without it soundin' like another cliché?
From what I've seen and I've heard,
When it comes to you, baby, no, there are no, there are no words.

There are no words,
Yeah, I swear this much is true,
There ain't a word in this world that describes you

I can talk all day long about life,
After so many wars, how we're all still alive.
I could speak all night long about the world,
How it took me thirty years just to find one girl.
I could shoot shit for days all about guitars,
A Gibson or a Fender, it depends on who you are.
But when I try to say something that you never heard,
There are no words

I could burn your ear off all about space,
Why we have a moon and why the moon has a face.
If the earth is spinning, why we all stay in place?
Why we can't walk it's gotta be a space race.
But what can I say,
That's gonna' blow her mind away,
Tryna write a classic, not a throwaway.
All I've seen, all I've heard,
When it comes to you, there are no, there are no, there are no words, no words.

Yeah, there are no words.
Yeah, I swear this much is true
There ain't a word in this world that describe you, that describe you.
Yeah, I swear this much is true
There ain't a word in this world that describes you.

No words.

There are no words to describe, quantify
What's inside you, your feeling, your vibe
Believe me, I've tried to break you down to a science
See you in my mind then I open my mouth and it's silence
I can articulate a Shakespeare poem
Even though I didn't know him
I can see where he was going
And where he's coming from
I can even catch his flow
And then I think of you
I don't know where this metaphor is going
'Cause there are no words you can understand, only lovers can
You can ask the professor and the madman
If they couldn't find the words, no one can
All I've seen, all I've heard
When it comes to you there's just no, just no words

(Just no words, no words)

Yeah, I swear this much is true,
There are no word in this world that describes you, that describes you.

Yeah, I swear this much is true,
There are no word in this world that describes you.

There are no...
There are no...
Just no words

Without You by Oh Wonder

I wasn't always into mellow songs. I preferred rnb and soft rock genres. Just only recently when a friend showed me a video that she and her husband made which featured the song Without You by Oh Wonder. It didn't take a long time for me to fall in love with the song and with the group. I played it on repeat for days. I was even luckier to have met a new friend who also loved the same song and made it as background music for one of his scuba diving videos.

So, this is the song on my playlist now. Enjoy!

"Without You"

Step out into the sun
Skies above they radiate me
Lift up, carry the love
Do you know?

That I've been out of my mind
This slow life I'm waiting for you
To swing me all of your line
Do you know?

Since I've been walking solo
Dreaming you were back home
I find getting down low
Hide until tomorrow

Come back into the good life
Lose these hazy love lies
I've been chasing my mind
Lonely in the cold nights

Cause I'm kicking up stones without you
Can't pick up the phone without you
I'm a little bit lost without you
Without you

And I'm digging down holes without you
Can't be on my own without you
I'm a little bit lost without you
Without you

Step out into the dark
Where were you when I was trying
To lift up, carry the love
Do you know?

That I've been closing my eyes
Love me slow, hallucinating
Swinging me all of your light
Do you know?

Since I've been walking solo
Dreaming you were back home
I find getting down low
Hide until tomorrow

Come back into the good life
Lose these hazy love lies
I've been chasing my mind
Lonely in the cold nights

Cause I'm kicking up stones without you
Can't pick up the phone without you
I'm a little bit lost without you
Without you

And I'm digging down holes without you
Can't be on my own without you
I'm a little bit lost without you
Without you

Hold me close when it's over
Life goes slow loving sober
Feel my bones getting older
Sadness grows when you're cold

I Believe in You

I've always loved Michael Buble and his songs. I remembered when I was hooked listening to the song entitled My Everything and had it played on my phone every day. Now, I've come across his new song in his new album and I liked the beat and the lyrics right away. So, here's a new one on my playlist - I Believe in You by Michael Buble.

Act Like You Love Me - Shawn Mendes

I first heard of Shawn Mendes singing his hit song "Stitches". The song is catchy and his voice is good. His album entitled: Handwritten has a lot of catchy and meaningful songs.

I stumbled across this other song while waiting for a delayed flight in the airport. Now, it's part of the songs I regularly listen to. It's beautifully written and heartbreaking at the same time.

Listen and enjoy. Lyrics are below.

Act Like You Love Me"

So you leave tomorrow
Just sleep the night
I promise I will, make things right
I'll make you breakfast, the way you like
Before you leave tomorrow
Just let me try

Before you leave tomorrow
Before you say goodbye
Before you leave tomorrow
Before you leave

Stay here and lay here right in my arms
It's only a moment, before you're gone
And I, am keeping you warm
Just act like you love me, so I can go on
And act like you love me, so I can go on

Just one more night
Lying in bed
Whether it's wrong or right
Just gotta make sense of it
And you'll be gone in the morning
And you'll be over this
Just one more night, so I can forget

Stay here and lay here
Right in my arms
It's only a moment, before you're gone
And I, am keeping you warm
Just act like you love me, so I can go on

When you go, I can't watch you leave
Just promise me you'll seek out when I'm asleep
And when you go, and you're miles down the road
I wake up wishing everything was just a dream

Just stay here and lay here right in my arms
It's only a moment before you're gone
And I, am keeping you warm
Just act like you love me, so I can go on

And stay here and lay here right in my arms
It's only a moment, before you're gone
And I, am keeping you warm
Just act like you love me, so I can go on
And act like you love me, so I can go on
Just act like you love me, so I can go on

Can't Sleep Love

I've heard of Pentatonix before from a friend who was a music lover. Their cover songs were good except that I didn't like covers. I liked the song being sang by their original artists. Nevertheless, I appreciate their good voices and creative covers.

While listening to my favorite internet radio recently, there was a nice new song that caught my attention. I'd always tried to look for the substance (read: message) in the song. Well, this song talks about a person longing for a kind of love that can keep them awake. (maybe because reality is better than their dreams?) And not just that ordinary kind or lustful thing, but of true love. To which I pretty much can relate as I've been single for more than a year now.

Anyways, here's their video. Thanks for reading and 'til next blog!

I'm a Belieber

I am not a Justin Bieber fan before. I just liked his songs but do not find much meaning in his pop songs. Now, I have turned around.

My friend asked me to listen to Justin's new songs " What do you mean" and "Sorry". I loved it so much as it does not give any trace of the teeny pop that he used to be. The songs also feels like it was written from the heart with a clear message. I also fell in love with his song "I'll show you". The song is, in fact, on repeat on my playlist.

I think Justin has improved a lot from his previous teeny high pitched voice to a breathy yet sexy and expressive tone. So far on his Purpose album, those are the 3 songs I like. I have yet to hear all 20 tracks.

Here's his official video for the song "I'll show you". He is seen running around in a very scenic place which some point out to be in Iceland. It would be amazing if I can go there and see the sites for myself. Indeed, if I was there I would also run around because of happiness! Anyways, enjoy his video and 'til next blog! :)

Desire - Years and Years

I discovered about the group: Years and Years when I was listening to an online radio. The catchy lyrics along with a mix of techno and pop caught my attention.

This is one of their songs that I have on my playlist right now. I wish to dedicate this to my crush whom I sent a message to but rarely replies and takes months to do so. I know he is busy while on duty and he has a life on his own and who am I to demand. And as we are worlds apart, so I just wish him well through the miles :)

Nick Jonas - Chains

Ever since I heard Nick Jonas' first single I thought there was something in his voice or his song that caught my attention.

His latest single, Chains, is now on my playlist and is on repeat. I already find him very sexy just by closing my eyes and listening to the song. More so, when I saw the video on youtube. I did not quite catch the theme of the video though but nevertheless I'm hooked. Nick sounded very masculine which perfectly matched the beat and catchy tune.

A part of the lyrics goes: "You got me in chains for your love" which I imagine him as being super glued to his partner so much he cannot move away no matter what she does. I do not agree giving heart and soul and being obsessed too much works on love. I believe in it being freely given, patient and kind.

On the other hand, this may mean he cannot look and treat another woman the way he does for her. He is loyal and willing to stay to make their relationship work. Such a rare one these days.

It's weird that I do not agree to the song lyrics but I still like the song. Anyway, this too shall pass. Even though I cannot relate to the song for now, it will definitely stay on my playlist until another Nick Jonas single comes along.

OneRepublic - I Lived

I have always liked One Republic and their songs. Who would not be drawn to artists/bands with amazing lyrics? They made radio history with their first single, "Apologize", received the largest amount of airplay in history (www.jango.com). Succeeding famous songs included "All the Right Moves", "Secrets" and "Good Life".

Their latest song is entitled I Lived. This song is on repeat everytime I jog. It talks about a person wishing you, the listener,  to go out of your comfort zone and take every opportunity that comes your way.

One line that moved me is:

"Hope that you spend your days
And they all add up
And when that sun goes down
Hope you raise your cup"

Reminds me that sometimes we take a day for granted. We brood over negativities and drown ourselves with anxiety that we fail to seize the moment and appreciate things around us. Spend days wisely so that they add up to a meaningful life. When the twilight of our years come we can say cheers to the life I lived.

For the complete lyrics (thanks to metrolyrics.com), see below:

Hope when you take that jump
You don't feel the fall
Hope when the water rises
You built a wall

Hope when the crowd screams
They're screaming your name
Hope if everybody runs
You choose to stay

Hope that you fall in love
And it hurts so bad
The only way you can know
You gave it all you had
And I hope that you don't suffer
But take the pain

Hope when the moment comes,
You'll say

I, I, I
I did it all
I, I, I
I did it all
I owned every second that this world could give
I saw so many places, the things that I did
Yeah with every broken bone
I swear I lived

Hope that you spend your days
And they all add up

And when that sun goes down
Hope you raise your cup
Oh, oh oh
I wish that I could witness
All your joy
And all your pain
But until my moment comes
I'll say

I, I, I
I did it all
I, I, I
I did it all
I owned every second that this world could give
I saw so many places, the things that I did
Yeah with every broken bone
I swear I lived

Oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh (x4)

With every broken bone
I swear I lived
With every broken bone
I swear I

The Script - No Good in Goodbye

I am going through a difficult time at the moment. This song perfectly describes what I feel. No need to say more. Lyrics are below:

"No Good In Goodbye"

All the things that we've lost
Breaking up comes at a cost
I know I'll miss this mistake
Every word I try to choose
Either way I'm gonna lose
Can't take the ache from heartbreak

Oh, but as you walk away
You don't hear me say

Where's the "good" in "goodbye"?
Where's the "nice" in "nice try"?
Where's the "us" in "trust" gone?
Where's the "soul" in "soldier on"?
Now I'm the "low" in "lonely"
'Cause I don't own you only
I can take this mistake
But I can't take the ache from heartbreak
No, I can't take the ache from heartbreak

No matter how it falls apart
There's an "art" in breaking hearts
But there's no fair in farewell, no
And when I see you in the street
I pray to God you don't see
The silent "hell" in "I wish you well."

Oh, but as you walk away
You don't hear me say

Where's the "good" in "goodbye"?
Where's the "nice" in "nice try"?
Where's the "us" in "trust" gone?
Where's the "soul" in "soldier on"?
Now I'm the "low" in "lonely"
'Cause I don't own you only
I can take this mistake
But I can't take the ache from heartbreak
No, I can't take the ache from heartbreak
I can't take the ache from heartbreak
(take the ache, take the ache)

If I could turn back time then I would re-write those lines
